A display in a canteen, reception area or shared workplace may have different mounting requirements from a display in a private meeting room. The wall, viewing direction, height, cable route and risk of contact all matter.
The bracket follows the space
The mounting method should suit the wall and the people viewing the display. A custom bracket may be needed where the screen must face a particular area, clear an obstruction or sit at a specific height.
Protect the signal and power paths
Shared areas often have longer routes and more movement around the equipment. Cabling may need trunking, conduit, fixings or additional protection. The finished route should remain serviceable and avoid becoming a trip or snagging hazard.
Include the mounting work in the design
The display, bracket, cable route, source and control method should be considered together. A custom mount is only useful when the complete signal path reaches the screen cleanly.
Commercial AV experience has taught me that the unusual part of a project is often the physical installation around the equipment. For commercial AV installation in Durban and KZN, the mounting environment forms part of the design.
