An older commercial AV system may contain useful cabling, speakers, brackets or displays alongside equipment that has become unreliable. A structured assessment separates those parts.
Map the current system
Identify sources, displays, audio, control, cabling, network equipment, power and user connections. The system may have changed since the original installation, so the installed path should be checked rather than assumed from an old quotation.
Test before deciding
Check the physical routes, connectors, signal paths and control behaviour. A source problem may look like a display fault. A network or cable fault may look like failed control equipment.
Decide what can stay
Suitable infrastructure can sometimes be reused. Other parts may need replacement because they are unsupported, damaged, incompatible with the required workflow or too difficult to maintain.
The result may be repair, staged upgrade or complete redesign. The correct answer comes from the condition and the client’s current use.
For commercial AV installations in Durban and KZN, DG Technologies can assess the existing system before recommending the next step.
