A renovated room is not the same room.
Even if the equipment was not replaced, the room may behave differently after new furniture, joinery, finishes, wall colours, curtains, lighting, speaker positions or TV mounting changes.
That is why renovated rooms need post-work AV recommissioning.
Physical changes affect performance
Furniture changes listening positions.
Joinery changes ventilation and cable paths. Curtains change acoustics. Wall colours affect projector performance. New lighting changes scenes. A moved TV may change bracket depth, HDMI paths and remote-control behaviour.
The room may look finished, but the technology still needs to be checked.
Controls should match the new layout
If a room’s use changes, the controls may need to change too.
Room names, source order, lighting scenes, audio zones, keypad labels, touchscreen layouts and app favourites should match how the room is now used, not how it was used before renovation.
Small interface mismatches create daily irritation.
Wi-Fi and cameras may need retesting
Renovation can change wireless and camera behaviour.
New walls, mirrors, cabinetry, appliances or dense materials may affect Wi-Fi. Landscaping, gates, lighting and furniture can affect camera views. Ceiling changes may affect access point positions.
Testing after the work is complete catches what design drawings cannot fully predict.
Post-work testing creates closure
The client should know that the room was tested after renovation.
That may include TV sources, audio, Wi-Fi, lighting scenes, app control, remotes, cameras, ventilation and rack changes. If something still needs attention, it should be recorded.
This is similar to the logic in why smart-home commissioning should test real daily routines.
