That might be through a keypad, app, touchscreen or clearly labelled switch. What matters is that the override is understandable. If someone turns garden lights off manually, does the schedule resume later? If the day-night sensor triggers, does it override the manual state? If a party scene is active, what happens at midnight?

These small rules decide whether automation feels polished.

Security lighting should be separated from mood lighting

Exterior lighting often serves two purposes.

Some lights are decorative. Some help with safety and security. They should not always follow the same behaviour. A driveway or pathway light may need dependable automatic logic. A garden feature light may be more about ambience.

Combining everything into one control group can be convenient at first and frustrating later.
