A simple change log records what changed, who requested it, when it was approved and what systems are affected.
It does not need to be a complicated document. It needs to be clear enough that the project team can look back and understand why the installation no longer matches an older drawing.
That can prevent arguments later.
The client benefits from traceability
When a client asks why something costs more, moved position or required extra labour, the answer should be traceable.
If the change was caused by a revised drawing, late decision, cabinet alteration or site constraint, the record should show it. That gives the client a fair explanation instead of a vague surprise.

At the end of the project, the change log helps create accurate as-built documentation.
The final system should reflect what was actually installed, not only what was imagined at the start. Without change tracking, the handover depends too heavily on memory.

If a point moves because the client changed a room layout, that is different from a point moving because the original route was blocked. If extra labour is needed because ceilings closed before sign-off, that should be recorded. If a trade damaged a route or removed access, the project needs a clear note.
