A commercial PA amplifier can be working while one or more speaker zones remain silent. Testing the complete system requires more than checking the amplifier display.

Confirm the zone paths

Each zone should be checked for continuity, shorts, correct connections and audible output. Existing speakers and cabling should be treated as part of the system being tested.

Test at a useful volume

Speech should be clear at the intended listening positions. Excessive volume can hide distortion and make it difficult to judge whether coverage is even. The test should include normal announcements and any priority microphone function.

Record infrastructure faults separately

If a cable route has no continuity or a speaker appears damaged, record that as an infrastructure fault. Replacing the amplifier alone will not correct it. Further repair or additional speakers may need a separate scope.

Hand over the zone layout

The client should receive a simple record of which areas each control serves and how to operate the paging microphone. This makes later fault reports much more useful.

For commercial AV and PA work, DG Technologies checks the existing path before treating an amplifier replacement as complete.
