Surround sound is designed around where people sit.
If the couch moves forward, backward or sideways, speaker distances and levels may no longer be ideal. A surround speaker that was balanced for one seating position may become too loud, too soft or distracting after the layout changes.
The system may still work, but no longer feel right.
Soft finishes affect the room
Curtains, carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture can absorb sound.
Hard finishes, glass, stone and reflective surfaces can make a room brighter or more lively. A cinema tuned before final furniture arrives may need adjustment once the room is complete.

Bass changes with layout
Subwoofer performance is strongly affected by room boundaries and seating position.
Moving a couch can change what the listener hears. Adding furniture can change vibration and absorption. A room that felt powerful during commissioning may feel uneven after the final layout changes.
Rebalancing protects the experience
A proper recheck may include levels, distances, speaker trim, subwoofer level, listening modes and real content testing.
