“The same one as before” is not a specification.

In AV, CCTV, networking and automation work, products can look similar and behave differently. A bracket may fit one screen size but not another. A camera may share a brand name but use a different lens, firmware, housing or mounting base. A power supply may have the right plug but the wrong rating.

Those small differences matter.

Descriptions are often too vague

A client may say “the black camera”, “the bedroom remote”, “the small power box”, “the lounge speaker” or “the same extender.”

That is useful as a starting point, but not enough for ordering.

The technician needs the exact model, version, rating or compatibility requirement before committing to a replacement.

Wrong parts waste time

The wrong part can arrive and look almost correct.

Then the problem appears onsite: the screw pattern is different, the connector has changed, the PoE requirement is higher, the bracket does not line up, the driver is different, the firmware is not compatible, or the replacement does not fit the cabinet.

At that point, the client has lost time and the technician has lost a visit.

Photos help, but records are better

A photo can help identify a part, especially when equipment is installed in a difficult location.

But a proper equipment record is better. Model numbers, serial numbers, supplier references and installation notes help support teams order confidently.

This is especially useful years after installation, when product lines have changed.

Compatibility beats assumption

DG Technologies does not treat replacement parts as generic.

Before recommending a replacement, we try to understand the exact product, how it is connected, what it must integrate with and whether a newer substitute changes anything else in the system.

That care prevents the wrong small part from becoming a bigger project problem.
