Some AV faults survive several repairs.
The source is changed. The extender is changed. The TV is reset. The input is checked. The power is cycled. The system works for a while, then fails again.
At that point, the hidden cable route should be taken seriously.
Old cables can become the weak link
Many homes still have HDMI or AV cables that were installed years ago.
They may have worked perfectly for older equipment, but newer sources, resolutions and handshakes can expose weaknesses. A cable hidden in a conduit or wall may also have been bent, stretched, damaged or poorly terminated long before the current fault appeared.
The cable is easy to forget because it is not visible.
That does not make it innocent.
Replacing devices does not prove the cable is healthy
If the same fault remains after devices are changed, the cable should be isolated before more visible equipment is blamed.
That may mean testing with a temporary known-good cable, checking the run length, replacing an extender, testing source-to-display directly, or pulling a new cable where possible. The important part is methodical isolation.
Guessing becomes expensive.
Conduit planning affects future repair
This is why cable routes matter during construction.
If the original route was correctly sized and accessible, replacing a cable may be possible. If the cable was plastered in, bent through tight corners or trapped behind joinery, a simple repair becomes a larger project.
Future serviceability is designed long before the fault happens.
The client needs an honest explanation
Cable faults can be frustrating because the client cannot see them.
The installer should explain why the hidden route is being considered, what has already been tested and what the next step will prove. That turns a frustrating fault into a structured investigation.

AV support should isolate every link in the chain, including the cable nobody can see.
